FAQs

Why do I need spill containment equipment?

If you have hazardous liquids or gases at your worksite, it is essential that you have the right equipment on hand to prevent and clean up spills. This is a legal requirement in Australia – if you don’t have the necessary equipment and do everything in your power to prevent and address spills, you risk damaging the environment, harming your staff and incurring fines or even jail time.

Can I be fined if I don’t have the right equipment?

Yes, you can be fined large amounts if you do not comply with Australia’s regulations. WHS regulations provide for fines of up to $30,000 (and potentially more if the spill leads to significant harm or damage) for failing to handle their hazardous materials correctly. This is why it is essential that you store and maintain your hazardous liquids and/or gases safely and in line with all necessary guidelines.

How do I know what equipment I need?

The equipment you need will depend on a number of factors, including the type and volume of hazardous liquids or gases you have on-site, the types of emergencies you may face, and the sort of worksite you operate. To ensure that you get the most effective equipment for your needs, we recommend that you give us a call so that we can discuss your unique requirements.

Does my equipment require ongoing maintenance?

Yes, it does. You need to inspect your equipment on a regular basis to ensure that all items are working effectively. If you want to make sure that your safety equipment is as effective and safe as possible, we can provide you with regularly scheduled equipment maintenance. You can find out more here

Should I train my employees to use my equipment?

Yes, your staff need to be trained to use certain equipment, like spill kits. To make this training process as simple and effective as possible, we provide a Spill Kit Training Course that goes over all the ins and outs of spill kit usage (you can find out more here). To enquire about the specific training needs for your workplace, just give us a call.
