Formalin spill kits are designed to deal with spills of dilute aqueous solutions of formaldehyde or more commonly known as formalin. It reduces exposure to formaldehyde gas in the event of a spill. The neutralising powder contained in formalin spill kits will convert formalin into a passive, non-toxic substance. The super absorbent polymer cools down the solution and reduces formaldehyde concentration and is transformed into an easily removable semi-solid mass. The resulting mass cools rapidly minimising formaldehyde off-gassing. The conversion from a liquid hazard into an easily managed solidified gel only takes less than 5 minutes.
